Pro tip. If anyone uses the mailbox alert add-on and you create your own alert .gif you need to store it in a permanent location before you add it to the alert function because neither the add-on or TBird will automatically store it in their own folders and that original .gif needs to be accessed every time it's used.

Thunderbird has been working extremely well. No hiccups so far at all. And I've been able to do a number of tweaks here and there to get it to look and behave very much like The Bat as well.
I donated $20 to its development to show my appreciation. That's $30 less than it would have cost to upgrade The Bat.

Thanks for the head's up. I'm perfectly happy with the way it is now. None of those updated features look like I'd care about them. My concern would be how much more memory/resources will it use. As I pointed out in another thread Thunderbird uses around 200Megs of memory compared to The Bat (~25 Megs) which I used to use and I'm trying to keep memory usage under control these days since everything continually needs more and more to keep up to date with often unnecessary features.

Memory usage is one reason why I build new systems with a minimum of 16GB of RAM, and use 32GB or 64GB if they can accept that much. Software bloat will only increase over time, unfortunately.
Remember "640K should be enough for anybody."

Yeah. I'd put buying a new system with plenty of RAM on hold for a while but I'm at the point where I see the unavoidable need to do it to keep up with what you allude to above.
