Is it time to make the jump for a gamer?

Hi! I noticed there was a whole forum dedicated to Windows 11, so I figured it'd be a good place to get an opinion on this. Do you think now's a good time to pull the trigger and upgrade to W11? I do game often on my PC so my prime concern is just stability issues related to that.

I'd love to hear what everyone thinks!

You should give us the specs/tech details of your computer.

Personally I now wait until it's absolutely necessary to upgrade my MS operating systems since I do not want to be an unpaid beta tester for Microsoft. That has nothing to do with gaming, which I don't do on my computers, just an opinion on OS upgrades in general.

Windows 11 is still essentially beta software. Microsoft is still changing things and fixing issues. If you want stability, stick with Windows 10.

It's nothing too powerful, just a modest budget rig.
A Ryzen 5 3500X, 16gigs of DDR4-3200, a 500gig NVMe drive for Windows, and a GTX 1060 (I know I know, bottlenecks, but god I cannot for the life of me upgrade my GPU right now

And yeah respectable opinion, there's definitely wisdom in there.

Yep, think that's what I'll do for now then. The new W11 features don't even fully attract me anyway. I already have my taskbar icons centered in W10, thanks very much!

Stick with Windows 10. Doesn't see the need to install a trial version.

Learning from most Windows OS, I would wait too.

Windows 10 initial few versions were horrible and some of my programs did not run on it. I held on to Windows 7 for as long as possible, only until 3 years ago, I finally switched over to Windows 10 because I did not have a choice since Windows 7 was no longer supported with Windows Updates. Windows 7 started to have security issues. When I finally got onto Windows 10 in later versions, they did a marvelous job, especially their final version. My programs ran fine.

I have installed Windows 11 on a test laptop. Again, some programs did not work properly while they worked fine on Windows 10 on the same laptop. However, I also have installed Windows 11 on another test computer (desktop) and everything is functioning fine. Personally, I think it is much faster than Windows 10.

The only two things that drives me nuts on Windows 11 are the combined tasks on the Taskbar and takes two clicks to get to the full context menu of files. Other than that, I am beginning to like it more than Windows 10 but I am still testing out.

One other issue with Windows 11 Home and possibly in the future Pro will require a Microsoft account to set it up, at least with a new installation. It might be worthwhile to get a Windows 11 Pro .iso install file now before that happens, even if you do not install it yet.

Yes, they require it but I disconnected the internet and therefore was able to create a local account.

That is a good point that you brought up because did not like that they require a Microsoft account to track their users.
