    Save Youtube video

    What ho one and all,

There was a time when it was possible to used savefromnet.com (or something similar) to save short youtube videos. Now there seems to be nothing.

Is there another way to save a youtube video?

    Thanks

My Chrome Browser has a built in BOOKMARK feature that works rather well. Or am I missing something.

    Steve,

Many YouTube videos are here today, gone tomorrow, so bookmarks may not be all that useful.

Thanks for the link. Have downloaded the portable version but when trying to run it, receive a missing v8dll.dll message. Not sure what this implies?

That .dll file is part of the download, in the .zip file. You should place ALL of the files in the .zip file in the same folder. Do not try to place them where you think they should go. If that file is not in the .zip file, make sure that you actually downloaded the portable version. Re-download if necessary.

I like to use YT1S.com, which lets you download either the entire video or just the audio from it, in all the qualities that the video is available in on YT. Need to be really careful of ads and popups, though. AdBlock might be a good idea here.

    YT1S.com
Just tried this one. Works well. You can choose variable bitrates as well.

VirtualDr email notices are not working.

Thanks for the link; have bookmarked it. Did find another, probably same site https://yt5s.com/en37

Have also found that sometimes, 'Open in Browser' actually downloads some things.

    Hey guys, be careful ...

    YouTube - Terms of Service
    ...
The following restrictions apply to your use of the Service. You are not allowed to:

    1. access, reproduce, download, distribute, transmit, broadcast, display, sell, license, alter, modify or otherwise use any part of the Service or any Content except: (a) as expressly authorized by the Service; or (b) with prior written permission from YouTube and, if applicable, the respective rights holders;
      ...
There are a few exceptions, noted here: https://fossbytes.com/how-to-downloa...-free-legally/

I see. Hadn't actually considered that before, but it does make sense given the shady nature of most YT downloader sites. Might just be best to stick to downloading videos on the YT app itself then.

Yep. The above FossBytes exceptions link show more of what can, and can't be downloaded legally.
