    GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD5 or ASUS P6X58D-E

    I was going to tryout Windows 11 and realized that it requires UEFI and TPM. Yes, I should have read the sticky post for minimum requirements.

    Is it possible to update the BIOS for these motherboards and enable UEFI? Probably not but just want to confirm.

    Did you do any googling to see if you have the latest BIOS etc....?
    If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

    No, you can't update BIOS to UEFI. The motherboard would have come with UEFI firmware if the hardware supported it.

    Of course I did.

    TPM is a hardware item, although you can get a software version.

    You can also set Windows 11 up in a VM, or, there is a way to get it to run on unsupported hardware:

    You probably do not want to run Windows 11 on unsupported hardware for general use, but for testing it might be OK.

    I am planning to build an Intel Alder Lake system for Windows 11 use and testing. I am not a fan of the "updated" user interface.

    That is good to know JDC. I was not aware of that.

    I was going to do the VM thing but thought I might as well do it to the main system. Well, my main system is 10 years old. So maybe it is time to upgrade and keep up with the latest OS.

    If you mean the BIOS vs UEFI, same Here. If you mean Windows 11, I haven't seen it yet.
