Resolved [RESOLVED] didn't know quite where to post hp - compaq Pavilion 690-0013w

Is there a GUI version of the bios? This thing is not a "gamers" idea but was a quick buy with fast upgrades and HP has been no help at all.

Any help is appreciated. I hate writing bioses.

Ok but I was trying to find a GUI version of the bios. Or did I miss something there.

"This package contains a utility used to manage BIOS settings and BIOS password for supported computer models running a supported operating system."

Also can't get it to run anyhow.

I just need a basic bios GUI and not a utility.

I think it would help to know exactly what the bios is.

    https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/tech-t...up-windows-pcs

Shorter version... it's software built into a motherboard that boots before Windows and enables you to control various settings in the motherboard, processor and other hardware. The GUI is generally accessed by hitting the proper key before Windows starts and it will appear on your screen before Windows runs on the hard drive.

The program that Murf linked to is software that allows you to access the bios GUI from Windows after it's booted.

the bios currently looks like a 90's version of a cheap bios and HP sucks so...for support. Still no GUI. for the BIOS.

Straight BIOS editing. I am Limited at the moment

Unless the bios has an upgrade to a newer version with a little more control over more hardware parameters it is what it is. What do you want to do with/in it?

HP motherboards and BIOS settings do not generally allow for much customization, especially on the Pavilion line of computers. It reduces support calls to HP. And yes, their BIOS screens look like something from the 1990's.

And the settings you mentioned should be locked and stay that way unless YOU make a change.

I would go with Out of Sight - Out of Mind.

P.S. For me? I know these settings and just hate being locked. On the upside, I did swap the cpu for a 3600 and jammed (amazingly with a lot of mods) a 2080 into it. Rough day and not fun. Time to figure out my router problems.
