Are you trying to open files via command prompt on your flash drive?
You need to explain exactly what you are trying to do.

If you are looking for a list of files, try the following. Replace the D: with the drive letter assigned to the flash drive.

Thank you for your help. I am a very confused user, trying to
access the flash drive sitting in the USB plug in my laptop. I used to see a "D" or an "E" when I issued an "open" command on my OOW (WORD-like, word processor) but I no longer see any such drive options.
How can I try to see what's on the fllashdrive? ...bkar

When you plug the flash drive in, you don't see a drive letter in Windows Explorer?

Have a Windows Explorer (File Explorer) window open and visible when you plug in the flash drive. You should see a Drive with a drive letter added.
