Sound driver needs 'further installation'
Properties of my MOTU sound driver say it needs 'further installation.' What? Degrees of installation? I thought it worked or it failed but noooooooo apparently not.
What would constitute further installation? Do I need a digital stick so I can really poke it down in there?
Is there a utility that can check the working status of drivers - the Further Installation Meter?
Thanks - rev
That might explain 'had a problem starting.'

My guess after having a brief look around MOTU-centric forums is that it might be referring to updates.

I uninstalled mine, got a horrible driver updater program and it worked. Which means you don't have to find the Further Installation Meter for me.
Wen to the link, sorted them out.
Thanks

I spoke too soon. The drivers can be found under Hidden Devices and they still say 'requires further installation.'
What do I do?
Thanks - rev

Is anything actually malfunctioning? Windows, esp Win 10, is notorious for updating drivers unnecessarily and then borking everything up. I'd leave it alone unless there's an actual problem.

Oh yes! There's a problem, I have no sound in a recording studio. Drivers that were working fine now need further installation, which means they're not entirely working.

The Windows tip says 'further installation' can be fixed by connecting the device that isn't connected - if only it was that easy. I know the sequence of installing and connecting my MOTU crap is sensitive so I plan to keep uninstalling and reinstalling in case I get lucky. If I don't get lucky, I'll go back to Win 7 but any thoughts on it in the meantime would be much appreciated.

Have you tried installing the drivers in Win 7 legacy mode?

Didn't know that was possible, how is it done?
I just noticed your link - thanks!

I tried the legacy mode install - it made no difference at all. I'm going back to a virgin Win 10, my local computer store can do it, presumably with an add-in card.
