Updated graphic card and computer won't turn on.

My son computer is a gigabyte ga-ax370-gaming k5 and he's been using the onboard hdmi for a single monitor. and for his birthday we updated his gaming which supports dual monitor setup, but this motherboard only has one HDMI output. Luckly I had a GTX 950 lying around, but when I install the video card, the computer with not power up and there a single click sound that comes from the PSU. I reverted back to the old setup and everything works fine as original. Plug the video card into another system, and it works, went back and plug it back into my son computer, and the same old thing happens again. no power and a click sound comes from the PSU.

Guessing you need a bigger PSU.

That type of card can draw 75-90 watts or more with heavy use. How many watts is the power supply in that system rated for? Make and model of the power supply might also be useful.

The PSU is a PowerSpec 650W 80Plus fully modular Model: PS 650GFM it has two red 8 pin PCI-E port - I just need one 8 pin to uses as the graphic card has 8 pin.

A 650 watt PSU should be more than enough.

I am assuming that you used an 8 pin cable from the red port of the PSU to the card.

If that did not work, did you try the cable that came with the card, and connect the 8-pin end to the card and the 2 6-pin ends to the PSUs 6-pin connectors?

actually I used a random 8 pin pci-e possibly from another PSU stash of cables I have lying around. But it is a video card power cable.

I would not generally mix and match PSU power cables. While they should be standardized, you never know. Try the cable that came with the PSU or the card.
