Task Manager
my comp often seems slow and I think... could be low bandwidth coming from BT
but thinking about it... could be too many things on the go ... like chrome browser
I went on to task manager and saw that chrome was 280 meg on the memory column
Firefox is also a big consumer and I often have as many as 5 FFox browsers on the go.... prob a big mistake !
think in future I ll keep my eye on the task manager !

Modern browsers do use a lot of memory. The more tabs or windows open the more memory. I've found that Firefox uses less CPU resources than Chrome though and my CPU temps (Win 7 pro) are nearly 10 degrees C cooler on average using the latest Firefox vs the latest Chrome.. avg 45 degrees avg/65 peak vs 55 degrees avg/70 peak. All doing normal browsing.. news, blogs, Twitter, youtube, emails, etc.
Google tells me that Opera uses the least am't of memory of all browsers.
Speedfan is a good little free utility for measuring temps.

STRANGE, I ve got 2 f fox browsers open which I see in the task manager
I scroll down and then see about 10 ff icons ... some using a fair bit of memory !
very little cpu
I right click and hit .... file location... and I end up in a mozella folder which
I guess is where mozella is installed
should I delete these other icons ,, or could that be dangerous ?

It's normal to see quite a few at one time. I have 8 at the moment with only one FF window/tab open. You can close whichever ones you want within task manager and the program may or may not close but they'll reappear once you restart Firefox and start surfing.
Unless they happen to be using almost all available memory, which would be very unusual, I doubt it's the reason your computer is slow.

i CLOSED one or two of the icons down then went back to the 2 f fox browsers
that are open.... a few of the tabs were closed down... luckily I could restore them
so maybe those f fox iicons are there on task manager taking care of the ... very many... tabs I have open on my f fox browser !

Yes, Chrome behaves the same way.
