Ethernet Network Invisible to Windows 10 PC & Access Problems

Hmm, that is really strange.

Did you set the Function Discovery Resource Publication to Automatic (delayed)? Again, that is on the link I posted earlier.

Discovery is On and Allowed on all PCs.

Now the "blind" PC10z sees everything as Media Devices: itself, PC10x, and my Smart TV. And yet if I manually input \\PC..., I have no problem and File Manager works.

POSSIBLE SITUATION: The TV is connected TWO WAYS: 1) WiFi to network for internet Netflix, and 2) HDMI to PC10z so I can watch programs from internet sites.

QUESTION: Does a HTPC show up as a Media Device? Should a PC ever appear as a Media Device? (I turned off Windows Media Streaming in PC10z and it's appearing as a Media Device in it's own Network DISAPPEARED - now PC does not appear in Network.

The Function Discovery Resource Publication service is separate from Network Discovery. You would need to look in Services.

If you can manually type the network path, then you should be able to map network drives.

On blind PC10z, Function Discovery Resource Publication was Running but not set to Automatic (delayed), so I changed it to A(d) and Started it.

Now blind PC10z, sees itself and PC10x is still a Media Device.

I don't know if this makes any difference but both PC10's are Windows 10 Home, but PC10x is 64 bit and blind PC10z is 32 bit.

Also, PC10z has slight differences with PC10x, for one, in File Explorer, 64 bit PC10X shows "Local Disk (C" while in PC10z only shows "Local Disk"

32 or 64 bit shouldn't make a difference.

About "Media Device" issue, try setting these other services to Automatic (delayed) also:

Push Win Key and type "Services", locate those services, start them and set Start type to Automatic (Delayed Start).

Services are:

- Function Discovery Provider Host

- Function Discovery Resource Publication

- SSDP Discovery

- UPnP Device Host

Did you try sharing a folder instead of the entire C drive?

RE: the 4 services:

ALL were RUNNING except UPNP...
ALL were MANUAL except FDPH which was Auto(del)

So I
Changed ALL to Auto(del)
Started UPNP
RESTART

RESULTS (no change)
PC10z (this is the blind PC) does not show itself anywhere in NETWORK
Show 2 Media Devices:
1) Smart TV
2) PC10x

Also,
The Media Device Icon size was halved. (?)
It seemed to take longer to complete Login (Boot same)

MORE EVIDENCE:
I realized I had synchronized a PC10x folder onto PC10z (blind PC) and it has been working just fine through all his.

QUESTION: How can NETWORK not show the PC it was called from? That seems impossible.

Did you try sharing folders (not entire drives) and then mapping to the network drives?

Did you try using SMB 1.0?

I see 2 approaches to access problem:
1) Try to fix why I'm not granted access, or
2) Specifically setup access for individual users. Of course this is out of my comfort zone and Authenticated Users and Windows vs Network Credentials is a guessing game for me.
