    Lags and Delays

I finally retired my Windows 7 OS. Using the same computer, I have installed Windows 10 clean, not an upgrade.

Everything seems to be fine for the exception of two things:

    • Slow Response in Windows Explorer
    • Disk Management takes forever (like 3 minutes vs 20 seconds in Windows 7) to view the disks.

The speed it copy, paste in Window Explorer is not the issue. It is afterward, it takes like 10 seconds for the files to show up. For example, I just moved (dragged and dropped) an empty folder from the "Downloads" folder to the "Documents" folder. It took at least 10 seconds before it actually moves.

Opening up some some app also takes about 10 seconds.

This is a fresh install and the April release.

    Any solution to this?

Seek out and destroy the "hidden" file called ICONCACHE.db in the folder:
    C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local

It will get recreated and if hopefully help speed up Win Explorer.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Thanks for your reply Steve. Did what you said. The first 10 minutes seem to have resolved the problem and moved folders between "Downloads" and "Documents" were instantaneous. However, after 10 minutes, was right back to square one issue again. When I tried to delete that file "ICONCACHE.db" again, it was not there.

It is weird that this is happening on a brand new install. I installed 3x already and all 3x are the same.

Again, the speed of the copy is not the issue. It is the completion of the move, which this was not an issue in Windows 7.

The other issue of Disk Manager (slow view) still also exist.

There has to be something else on this. When checked CPU and RAM, CPU is below 10% usage and RAM is below 30% usage.
