[RESOLVED] Google Duo
I am using Google Duo on 3 devices; Windows 10 PC, Apple iPad and Android phone. On all of theses devices I can receive calls on Duo but cannot initiate calls on any one of them. The reception on these is excellent and I am at a loss to find what the problem can be with my settings.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated,
Brian

What do you mean that you cannot initiate calls? Is the option completely missing or does it just not connect?

Not sure if there are a lot of Duo users here, so you may want to check the Google Help Forum:

When I try to make a call it appears to ring but the sound does not sound like the one I hear when I am being called. In addition the party I am calling does not hear an incoming call and I get a message that my caller did not answer. When I phone the caller he tells me he did not hear anything. I have had this result with other contacts I try to video call?

What are you using to place the call, the Android app or the web client in Google Chrome? Are you calling with a phone number or email address? What is the person on the other end using?

I'm not a Duo expert, so you might want to check the Google Help forum also.

What is the other person using? If they are using Google Chrome, they need to allow notifications. You also need to allow microphone and camera.
It makes a difference if you are using a phone number or an email address to call. Unless they've fixed it recently, you need to use the web client if you are calling with an email address.

They allowed notifications and I have allowed microphone and camera. I am calling with an email address. Exactly how do I use the web client?

Google has blessed Duo with the ability to make or receive calls with only your e-mail address. Currently, this feature is only available on the web client but is expected to be available on Android sooner than later.
Web client = browser. Maybe try connecting from your Win10/Google Chrome to the other user? Is the other user using Win10/Google Chrome also?

The other user is using Win10/Google Chrome. I've tried connecting from my win10/Google Chrome. Unfortunately that doesn't work either!
Since he can call me from his PC I will have to signal him by email to do that until I get this resolved somehow or other.
Thank you so much for all your help,
Best regards,
Brian

Hmm strange. Like I mentioned before, you might find more help on the Google forum, but I didn't find anything conclusive when I did a search.

You can still use Hangouts also. Not sure exactly when they're going to decommission that.

I did try the Google Forum as you suggested but didn't find much help there. I am using Hangouts and that works very well.
Thanks much,
Brian

It appears that I can connect to a PC from my iPad or Android phone to an email address as long as the Google Duo app is open on that PC???????
Once again for all your help,
Brian

Ya, they need to have the Duo client open when you are contacting them. Duo was meant to be a Facetime competitor (phone to phone). On Android phones, Duo is running as a background service. It doesn't do that on a PC.
