Suggestions for formatting an 8tb HDD?

I purchased a Seagate 8tb drive and can't figure out how to format it.
Seagate Tools doesn't even see it (?) VERY strange.

Tried the cmd prompt (took like 10 hrs), but only recognized the first 1.3TB.
Also tried using the Win10 Disk Management, but again only recognizes and formats the first 1.3TB.

I wanted to format it as a single NTFS drive.

I found a post suggesting Minitool app.

Also saw a suggestion to use mbr2gpt utility to convert MBR system drive to GPT, then extend windows partition or create another partition to utilize full drive capacity.

You guys have always been helpful, so wanted to check here first! Thanks

Is this an internal drive? What is the make/model of the motherboard?

You must use GPT for any drive larger than 2.2TB.

Yes, Internal drive. Seagate Archive HDD v2 ST8000AS0002 8TB 5900 RPM 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

We've tried it on a laptop (2 years old) and 2 desktops (built this year, new mobos), all running Win10 64. I'll talk to my friend and get the make & model from him. (Didn't work on my PC, so he took it to try also).

Reviewed the article and we're trying DiscWizard next.

How did you try a 3.5" drive in a laptop? Something isn't adding up.

Ah ok. What is the make/model of the adapter? Are you sure it supports 8TB drives?

    ?? It's a USB adapter cable. It's older, most likely USB 2.0.
    8tb support?

Some USB SATA adapters only support up to 2TB. If it's an old USB 2.0 adapter, that might be the problem.

When you say you tested the drive in the desktops, did you connect it to an internal SATA port or did you still use the same USB SATA adapter?

Used the SATA adapter when my friend was trying to format it on his PC. He was unsuccessful, so I'm going to try installing it internally on mine and re-try some of the suggestions.
