old scanner

hooked up the scanner and switched on the laptop.....

it boots up, I see the windows logo in centre of screen then ... click ...
it turns itself off .....

I ve hit a brick wall once again

Might need a new, working battery to keep it running. I could also be an AC adapter that is not supplying enough power.

Another, though somewhat less likely problem, might be a broken power jack on the laptop. Does it feel loose/broken if you jiggle the jack? When you plug it in do the laptop's charging lights come on? Do they blink if you try to move the jack around?

i VE given in and bought a brand new canon scanner £50

its working great, Ive been operating it with irfan view.... just wondering are there any other
free graphics sites out there that I could also try ?

Hit on Faststone pic viewer... the new scan comes up in
a window and you can then increase saturation, colour etc with the faststone software..... best I ve found so far !
