    Resolved [RESOLVED] Thumbdrive reported full

Compliments of the season one and all,

Want to copy a couple of files from the HDD to a thumbdrive. Never had a problem before, but today, the drive is reported as full when in reality, there are no files on it.

Tried another thumbdrive, that does have some files but is 90% empty. I can read the files but reported a message says drive full when I try to copy.

On the empty drive, I formatted by right clicking, but still, reported full when I try to copy. A few days ago, thee was no problem in copying to the drive.

The only thing I have done this morning was install a couple of video size reducing programs (which did not install on my XP) so I removed them both and restored via both a Restore Point taken before installing and a better restore from Config Safe. So theoretically, the computer should be back to where I could copy to the thumbdrives.

A have tested the empty drive and it is all showing good.

    What to do next?

    Grateful for any suggests.

    Thanks

    Rex

How large are the files? Are the drives formatted to NTFS or FAT32. There's a 4GB file size limit on FAT32 drives.

VirtualDr email notices are not working.

What happens when you copy a small /real small file to the drive?
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

    Gentlemen,

Many thanks. Nail and head come to mind. Did not know about the4 gb limit and I had not tried any other files because I assumed there was some kind of 'lock-out' issue. The file in question is 5.6 gb and smaller files do copy. Even folders that are over the 4 gb limti but their contents are all below, copy.

So think that one is solved.

Thanks, toodle pip and compliments of the season.
