Media Creation Tool - Needs updated at times?

Does the media creation tool use the latest updates that it can possibly get. Like 2004 or 20H2? I have an older version on my thumb drive that's probably 2 years old. So should I recreate it or not? I thought that more updates will be installed if I renewed it on the drive and delete the older version.

So what's the best thing to do?
Note: My questions may be to help others
    Thanks, JB

It may depend on what you plan to do with the tool. If you plan to keep a copy in case you need to do a Repair Install for your current system, you would probably want it to have the version / build of Windows 10 that you are currently running, in case the latest version is not compatible with your hardware. For a new system that you know will work with the latest version, get the latest version.

Otherwise you would need to know how to get an older version for someone that did not update their system. Is there older versions to download somewhere? M$?
