My Yamaha P71 digital keyboard is a marvel, but I can't get it to play through my computer. I've installed the Yamaha Digitial Steinberg USB driver. Still no results. I had it play via computer once before but I can't remember how I did it. I suspect that I may have to remove the MS driver. They may be conflicting. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
Are you using any software or apps on the computer to control the keyboard? If not then you could plug the headphone output into the mic/line input on the computer. You'd need a stereo 1/4" to mono or stereo mini jack cable. Keep the volume output on the keyboard low to avoid distorting the input on the computer.
THAT's how I did did it before. Now I remember. Plugged it in with a direct cable from headphones. Installing the Yamaha YUSB file should give me a driver. But it isn't listing this k-board in its pop up window when I open it. I'll order that cable from amazon so I don't have to move anything around. Still..it's a little frustrating.
