Can you lock a drive letter?

I installed Sonar to an external disk which is all very well until the drive letters get shuffled. Is there any way I can stop windows from changing the drive letter assigned to that drive?

Assign it with a higher letter like S:

I can assign a higher letter but then I'll have to reinstall. That may be the only long term solution. I can't change the icon properties because they refer to C:\ and something on C:\ calls for the external.
