    Drive making clickety noise

No errors were found on my 300 gig WD drive but it's making a clickety click noise.

Would i be right in assuming that it's on the blink?

    Thanks - rev

Did you run the WD hard drive diags on it? I'd run the long test on the drive.

If it's making a lot of noise, you should at least make a copy of the data somewhere else.

I put another drive in the docking station for comparison, it's practically silent. I don't need the data or the drive so I think I'll just trash it. Thanks.

Just a tip, Rev. My brother used to break open old harddrives to get at the magnets inside. If this the standard drive, you could do that if you wanted to, those magnets are really strong.

To find small screws you can't see. He had several and placed them on a metal bar spaced apart about 6 inches, then he'd run the bar over an area, picking up all screws he'd dropped.

I used it one time to find a small lens that had taken from the inside of a bad lens and was using that piece to make a sort of macro lens, it was taped onto another lens but the tape loosened and the inside lens fell off the tube I had it taped to, so I used his bar over the ground here at my house and found the object I lost in, no time.
