[RESOLVED] Windows 7 Ultimate Installing Limit
I have Windows 7 Ultimate DVD's both 32 and 64 bit. I have had them a long time and used them on different computers as I got better ones. Recently I got a computer with an I 7 processor and installed it with a 500 GB hard drive. After about 8 hours the hard drive failed. So I put a hard drive, one TB, into the computer and put Windows 7 64 bit on. I chose the option of automatic windows verification. It would not work. I clicked on changing the Product key and entered it again. No luck. Is there a limit on installing the program? Thanks

Windows 7 does have it's own built in limit of hardware changes. Usually you can call Microsoft directly and just tell them you've replaced some hardware and/or switched computers and they will verify the install.

to call Microsoft:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...ndows-7-or-8-1
To activate Windows 7 by phone:
Select the Start button Start button icon, right-click Computer, select Properties, and then select Activate Windows now.
Choose Show me other ways to activate.
Enter your Windows 7 product key, and then select Next.
Select Use the automated phone system.
Administrator permission required
You may be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.
Select your location (or the location nearest to you) from the drop-down list, and then select Next.
Call one of the available phone numbers listed.
An automated system will guide you through the activation process.

Microsoft says I have exceeded the amount of times I can reinstall.

In person or just a robot/recorded notice? They used to be pretty lenient about it but maybe since they're trying to get everyone to upgrade to Win 10 that's changed. If you didn't talk to a real live person that might be worth a try.

Or just call again to get another "tech" who might give a different answer.

Thanks! I'll try that. I can't believe they are concerned about Window 7.

This computer is going to be used for a CNC router. So I will be using Ubuntu 19.10.
