I have a home network with the following configuration:
A Windows 10 Desktop with Version 1809 (id DESKTOP-ANLITMR)
An old iMac with version OS X 10.6.8 (id BRIANSCOMPUTER)
A MacBook Air with OS Mojave 10.14.6 (id MACBOOKAIR-8E1E)
A Canon iP7200 wireless printer
An HP Envy 5055 wireless printer, scanner, copier
I am able to share all of these on my home network as shown in the network tree screen capture attached. At various times the Mac computers disappear from the network tree as illustrated in the other screen capture where only the Windows PC appears. I can however ping the Macs so I know they are still on the network. This seems to happen without me having made any changes on the network and I am at a loss as to how to correct this.
Any help in solving this would be greatly appreciated,
They do not reappear after a reboot but seem to reappear out of the blue. This also occurred before I had the HP Envy 5000 series printer which was just recently acquired.
I feel that the problem may be more with being unable to see the Mac machines!
I tried the following suggestion from the first link:
The latest Fall creators update fixed the network devices not showing up issue, sort of. If you have some older resources on the network, in Control Panel>programs and features>Turn Windows features on or off find SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support and check all the boxes - it has three sub items.
The missing items did appear again after that but they are gone once more today???
Check to make sure that Windows did not "helpfully" turn those settings back off again.
Note that version 1809 will reach end of support (unless you have the Enterprise or Education version) in May 2020. if nothing else works, you may want to consider making an image backup of the system drive (in case something goes wrong), and updating to the latest version of Windows 10.
That was the first thing I checked and they were still on. I am waiting until next year to update to the latest version and I will certainly ensure I make an image backup at that time (which I do periodically now).

1) Run regedit.
2) Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
How the create the IRPStackSize value:
1) In the Parameters folder of the registry, right-click the right pane
2) Point to New, and then click DWord (32 bit) Value
3) In the Name field, IRPStackSize (exactly as it is displayed because the value name is case-sensitive.)
4) Double-click IRPStackSize and enter Value data: 20, Base: Hexadecimal, click OK
I tried closing the firewall on the Mac but that didn't work.
I am very hesitant to use regedit as I fear I might make things worse.
