[RESOLVED] Quicken Alternative
Is there a software to use as an alternative to Quicken on Windows 10?
I prefer that it does NOT connect to financial institutions or be web based. I'd like to buy a CD and keep it on my computer only.
If it could import Quicken files that would be great but if not, I'll start all over. Mainly need to run reports from categories.
Thanks.

I Goolged your question... "alternative to Quicken"
Save Money by Using These Alternatives to Quicken! There are also sorts or articles like the following that do comparisons.

But then there's the six million dollar question - why are you dropping Quicken?
I happen to work for a company that makes three high dollar accounting packages for a specific industry... And I've been in the accounting business for decades. Getting people to switch softwares is much worse that pulling teeth.

Yes, I have Googled the same 100 times and most programs go online. I want something that will stay on my computer.
I'm using Quicken 13 and I don't like the way they set up reports with the totals on the top. Really hard to follow it that way.
My previous Quicken 04 was just fine but it won't work on newer computers.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, there really isn't a decent alternative to Quicken, however, if you can find a copy of Quicken 99 Basic, that should work well and not transmit any of your financial data to Intuit.

Found that a lot of older programs work using compatibility mode.

NOTE: I said "a lot".

If I could use my old Quicken 04 I would be happy.
I think I have tried the compatibility troubleshooter on it thou.
Ok, thanks for the replies.

This is odd. I tried to install Quicken 13 on a brand new Windows 10 laptop. It failed to install correctly.
Then I tried putting in Quicken 04 and it actually accepted that old program.
However, it would not read any files off either a flash or CD so I had to take it back out.
Tried Quicken 13 again and this time it accepted the installation with no problems. Copied the files off the USB drive and it's all set.
Looks like I could have run the 04 version if I were willing to start with all new data.
Didn't make much sense?
