I don't know why you have had no response. So I will offer a few low level comments.
If you have been following the posts here at VDr you will know that many people are have the problem of Windows Update taking a long time (sometimes hours) to download all available downloads. It is not clear how long you are waiting. Hours are often the case. Even overnight.
If you installed KB 3004394 when it first was offered (late 2014--early 2015), and this is the first time you having the problem, I doubt the delay has to do with KB 3004394 .
I suspect the delay is due to MS' campaign to get everyone to install Win 10. Did you install Never10 as discussed in
http://discussions.virtualdr.com/sho...pdates-qestion ?
I use GWX Control panel (similar to Never 10) .
http://blog.ultimateoutsider.com/201...ly-remove.html
One of its options is to not only block Win10 installation but to remove any Win 10 files you may have already downloaded, but not installed.

There are two updates that MAY help to speed up the detecting, and downloading of Microsoft updates for Windows 7 or 8.1, however, there is no guarantee that they will actually do much, and you do want to have either Never10 or GWX Control Panel installed or you may find yourself with Windows 10, which is what Microsoft wants.

So no one knows about the downloads on microsoft to combat this i referred to above in my question? On their page it refers to the 2nd allowing the change?
There are 9 updates available, i have tried only one with 370kbs, and it goes for 2 goes or better, that's nuts
so this one is an update to help 7 as well as 10? have to install both ?
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...k-prerequisite
"Install a COMBINATION of the following updates on Win7 SP1 -- KB3138612 AND KB3145739. I found out that patching KB3145739 alone without patching the WU Client for Win7 SP1 is not enough."
but only server one?
it;s changing the link, the kbs don;t match

When was the last time you ran Windows Update successfully? Have you installed Never10 or GWX?
I repeat the following old post on the chance it may help
Did you check in Services that Windows Update service and Remote Procedure Call service are on?
Windows Update Troubleshooter
http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9830262 or
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058
Fixit
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/en-us
Update Windows Update Agent (note different links for different Win 7 systems (32bit and 64bit))
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/949104
Run the Windows Update Readiness tool:
http://support2.microsoft.com/?kbid=947821
Scan for viruses and other malware.
Run SFC /SCANNOW from a Command Prompt
Run a System Restore to a date before the problem started.
Run a Repair Install. A Repair Install should not affect personal data or installed programs. but it never hurts to backup first.

If you have an error code

Like a chess game, the more questions i ask the more questions i get
How long does it take to run windows udate repair? been running an hour
If i was a week or 2 the last time it ran,
I stopped it last night after 3 hours on 370 kb 1 update, when i booted today, it said do not turn off configuring updates, when done it showed one successful 1 failed, many issues all over on this but everyone googling for answers, apparently no one has used the fix on microsoft i asked about
Never 10 is not disabled,, as i said that was not the issue for me , it's updates not the tray notification,, my issue with 10 is solved forget it,, repairing updates is the issue

I haven't googled this, does it make any difference if windows updates and remote are set at manual or automatic in services as far as this issue is concerned?
Excluding the issue that ANY UPDATES could be installed under AUTOMATIC WelshJim also asked

Ill look at it shortly, had sound issues in the house so had to shut it off, So far the auto settings do not make a difference in "this issue" in services
have you watched this? nut case
did you thoroughly read all of post 1 and 4 ? don't skip i'd like to have some answers to those, not added unless they do not pertain,
