    Windows 10 issues

I have a month old Windows 10 machine and have the following issues.

    1) Ghost image where the Edge Icon was located on the task-bar.
    2) Ghost image where the Mail Icon was located on the task-bar.
    3) Start menu not working when I click on it.

    I tried the following:
    1) Ran a full scan with Avast - nothing found.
    2) Ran a full scan with Malwarebytes Pro - nothing found.
    3) Ran a "sfc /scannow" - no issues found.
    4)Ran "Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}" - still doesn't work.

Anyone have any other ideas? Nothing has been installed other then a Windows 10 update a few days ago.

    Thanks.

You could try a System Restore to a point when all was working. Odds are though, that this either will not work, or will only work for a short time, until Microsoft helpfully "updates" your system again.

You could also try some of the items at the links below:

    JD,

I tried everything listed within your links and the same issue remains. I did a restore to an earlier date and the start menu worked for about an hour and now I'm back to the same. I guess I'll have to wait on Microsoft.

    Thanks for your help.

If it lasted for a while, then failed again, it is likely due to Microsoft wanting to have you on the "latest and greatest" version of Windows 10. Unfortunately, they fired most of their testing staff years ago. You are now a valued part of their unpaid team of beta testers. Figure on at least another 18 months before they have a stable, reasonably usable system with Windows 10. Even then, unless you are running the Enterprise or Education versions, you will still get monthly updates that break things.

Were you purposely trying to unpin the Edge and Mail buttons?

This fix is for Win7, but it should still work for Win10.

Note that you'll have to Show Hidden Files,Folder in order to see the AppData folder.

Dumb question, but you ran Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"} from an Administrator Powershell, right?

    Mid,

No I was not trying to unpin Edge or Mail. They appeared this way the same time as my other issue.

    Thanks.

I'm running the latest stable release 10586.71 on 3 computers and 2 tablets, and windows 10 is totally stable. You might have a video driver problem.
