Updated Win 7 Pro but update is Win 10 Home

I have a laptop that had Windows 7 Pro on it. When asked to upgrade to win 10 I was not ready then, so decided to download the upgrade to a DVD using the media creation tool. Unfortunately the hard drive became
unusable and I had to replace it with a new hard drive. I then installed Win 10 using the DVD that I had burnt earlier. The OS installed just fine. But when I look at the OS it says Windows 10 HOME ,
I am very puzzled as to how this happened. Any ideas as to why and how I can get to Windows 10 Pro

    Thanks

The first time we have to upgrade Win 7 pro to Win 10.
Once that is done and the computer is registered with M$, then we can do the clean install .

One more reason that my decision to go Mac later this year is looking like a good decision. MS is making users go through 2 installations to upgrade correctly?? Am I understanding this right?

To take advantage of the free Upgrade offer, you have to do an upgrade first from previous qualifying version of Windows. Once Windows has been activated on the computer then you can do a clean install afterwards.

If you want to perform a clean install, then you can follow these steps below.

Win the latest release of windows 10, there is no need to go thru an update first. The latest release does accept a win7 or windows 8.1 key.
