windows update stuck in perpetual loop
Hey folks,
Recently my HDD crashed in my PC so I pulled an old Dell Studio 1735 laptop off the shelf and loaded my Windows 7 premium disc. Everything went well and for a couple of days I would get notifications for a couple of dozen updates which I dutifully applied. As I was shutting down this morning I was notified of 174 updates. I went ahead and shut down and my laptop began installing updates. It stuck on update 159 of 174 10 hours ago.
Finally I decided to go ahead and do a hard shutdown to no avail. Upon powering back up the computer went straight to the screen informing me that it was on update 159 of 174 and yes the circle was still spinning.
Any suggestions on how to break this loop would be appreciated. I'm getting this terrible itch to unplug it and yank the battery'
