How can I boost the sound/augment the sound on my monitor?

    Hi all, thanks in advance.
I bought this Asus monitor because it had sound built in. Now I'm regretting getting rid of my other monitor that had external speakers because the sound on this monitor is tiny and I can't hear music well, or watch movies well.

What should I invest in to boost the sound, get it clearer and louder?

    I have a HP desktop Pavilion, Win 7 O/S 64 bit.

Why don't you use external speakers?

But I'm guessing that the monitor came with a cd and you installed the software...which probably included some sound software?!?!?

Customer reviews indicate the the volume is not very loud. There should be a volume control adjustment on the monitor itself also.

I haven't ever seen/heard a monitor with built in speakers that sound good. I go with external speakers. The speakers themselves are the thing that makes or breaks quality of sound. You can tweak it, EQ it, turn it up, down, whatever but if the speakers suck and built in speakers do because they are cheap and tiny then there's nothing significant you can do.
    Don't believe everything you think.

I agree with fink - the reviews of most monitors with speakers (or even many new TVs) usually note that the speakers aren't good for much more than Window sounds and occasional use for listening to dialog. You would not use them to listen to music or anything else where you want good sound quality.
