[RESOLVED] Question on upgrade
I order my computer on line - ordering specifics. Using Windows 7 Pro.
When receiving my system I receive the Windows 7 drive and necessary drivers on disc.
My question; Were I to upgrade to Windows 10 upgrade, will this be an upgrade to my existing system - or does anyone know whether MS will give the option to download to a DVD and later upgrade my OS.

At the beginning of the year 2015 will be out the next Windows Update 10 TP and Microsoft adds a new way to upgrade for users of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. now update to the latest version of Windows through Windows Update 10 can not only Windows users 10 TP, but users of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. To do this, they need to download a special tool from the Microsoft website and prepare your computer to receive updates.

I would suggest waiting for a little while.. a few months ... before deciding to upgrade to Windows 10 to let others find the bugs that will, without doubt, be there.
does anyone know whether MS will give the option to download to a DVD
Not yet...
No one outside Redmond knows yet, but in the meantime there's an option: Make your own ISO files.~~~How to turn your Windows 10 upgrade files into an ISO disk image

Thanks guys, I guess you all answered my questions. I will be waiting for a while before upgrading to Win 10. But, just in case I'll save a cloned version of Win 7. Thanks again!

Does anyone know if the Win 10 installation files can be just downloaded and not installed? One of the ZDNet links suggest accepting the download from Win Update and then cancelling before installation. That sounds a bit risky.

Thanks for the links!
I did not get the icon to appear until I had SP2 and security update for Microsoft.NET.framework 4.5,4.5.1 and 4.5.2 installed and then it showed right up.

You're welcome.
"SP2"? For Window 7? If I'm not mistaken, Microsoft has yet to even comment on the possibility of releasing a second service pack for Windows 7 users.

One of my updates reads "Microsoft XML core service 4.0 service pack 2 for x64 based systems (kb954430)." Whatever that is for until I downloaded it I did not get the Windows icon.
