    Terminal Server

The Windows User Profiles have an “Environment” tab where you can specify that a specific application launches when they remote into a server.

My developers are thinking that launching our accounting software this way - versus letting the users launch it from a desktop is the cause that one of our larger clients is having.

The accounting software is losing connection to the the database engine. (Sybase)

The issue is intermittent and doesn't happen to clients with smaller databases.

Any thoughts on the two methods to launch an application?

If the database connection issue never happens when manually starting the application, then I would say your developers may well be correct. It is possible that by using the Environment setting, the application may get launched before the network connection od other OS processes are fully established, and that may be the cause of the issue.

Thanks for the reply. Since the problem is intermittent - will have to wait and see...
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.
