    Resolved [RESOLVED] NIC insanity !!!!!!

Well, I'm just about to go off the deep end trying to get an internet connection. Here's the rundown:

    1.) I rebuilt a PC with a brand-new mobo, 6-core processor and a new boot HDD.
2.) After everything else was running well, I put in the LinkSys EG1032 v.3 NIC, and connected my CAT-5 cable (yes, I have wireless, but no wireless adapter, and have to wait on that).
3.) I could not get the system to "see" the Linksys driver, even when manually telling Windows what folder to look in.
4.) After a call to Cisco/LinkSys, I was told that there were no drivers for Windows 7. I hate to be cynical, but I suspect the NIC has the potential to still work on Windows 7, and Cisco just doesn't want to bother training their staff on instructing how to get it to work, or to re-work the drivers.
5.) At this juncture, my slow brain remembered that there is an integrated NIC on the mobo ! DOH !!!
6.) Unfortunately, it seems that the system cannot load the proper drivers. I noticed a yellow marker for it in Device Manager; I uninstalled it in DM and then had it look for new hardware. It found the integrated NIC, but once again could not load drivers for it.

Unless someone has a magical cure for this situation, I guess the next move is to get support info from MSI (mobo mfr.) ..... ?

    Thanks in advance,

Here are the basics of the system in question:

    CoolerMaster mid-tower
    MSI 970A-G43 mobo
    8GB DDR3 PC-1866 RAM
    ThermalTake ToughPower 750W P/S
WD 120GB SATA HDD boot drive
    Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon HD6450 1GB video card
Windows 7 Professional (installed as full OEM version)

P.S. I forgot to mention the other HDDs: Two WD 160GB SATA HDDs

The driver is on the cd that came with it.
Or you can get it at

Make sure you get the OS right.
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/970A-G...r&os=Win7%2064

After a certain time frame that button does become disabled.

Thanks, Train -- I didn't have the CD, and that link was great. All up and working now :-)
