    Computer goes crazy!

    Hello gang.
Im hoping you can help me solve an issue that I have been having lately. Whenever I browse the internet to certain sites (cnn.com, thechive.com, tsn.ca, and more) my computer fan and hard drive go into overload and use up 100% of the cpu power. This lasts for about a minute and during this time the pc is unresponsive. The browser (IE8) window will show in the top left corner the white "This program is not responding" box for that complete unresponsive minute and then after the minute or so is passed the site will load and the browser becomes stable again. If I click on any of the links inside the site I'm on, the whole process happens again.
    I am running a Pentium 4 3GHZ with 2 gig RAM.
I run Norton 360 Premier Virus protection.
I have scanned for spyware, adware, malware etc. and came up clean.
Windows XP Pro is installed and up to date.
Ive just updated the video card drivers hoping that was the problem but no.
Could it be that my video card ( ATI Radeon X300 Series ) is just to slow to keep up with todays internet demands?
Any ideas that will get my PC to stop doing that?
My PC is an older Dell 4700C but runs fine until this started going on! I have even recently formatted the computer because of this problem in hopes I would be ok again but nope!
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

Is the hard drive light on continuously during the time when the computer is non-responsive? If yes, then it might be time to run the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostics. Also, make sure that the fans and heat sinks, etc. are free of dust accumulation. You might also check the BIOS or use some software like SpeedFan to check the temperatures as well.

Did you run the diagnostics? I'd do at least that before replacing the drive.
    Don't believe everything you think.

VirtualDr email notices are not working.
