Site is painfully slow - & Search Function

Is it just me? Since the new layout, the site is painfully slow. It takes a long time to load any page and sometimes it gets stuck loading a page. I am confident that it is not my internet connection or my computer b/c I have no problem with other sites. Maybe b/c the site is still being upgraded?

It's not just you. It's been slow off and on since the upgrade. We're told they're working on it.. some of the slowness, I'm guessing, may have something to do with the re-indexing of the site for searches which should be done soon too.

Also, I posted this over 10 minutes ago. The thread appears in "Doctor's Lounge" but still not in "New Posts". Bug?

"Re-Indexing". OK. That makes sense. Maybe that's why my posts are not showing up in the "New Posts" search.

We're told that the indexing is very CPU intensive and it slows everything down. Hopefully things should be back to normal soon

It's beyond painfully slow, good Lord everything takes forever. No Matter what I did before it used to be snap snap snap now I mostly sit and stare at the screen.

In addition to my dislike of the new layout in general, I also find the site slower than before. On the past I would have to disable my HOSTS file to get things up to a moderate speed. Now even with HOSTS off, things are slow. This is the only site I normally visit with this problem.

If you're still using IE - it's time to switch browsers

I was a die hard IE user for ever up until about four months ago. I'm currently using FF portable that don't require any installation and notice a huge difference in page loading time... Now a days, I'm seeing that FF users are switching to Chrome.

Thanx for the idea--but--I have all the Browsers you mentioned and just compared them and there's no appreciable difference between them. The slowness is indeed the site, not the Browser.

Speed seems fine this morning...and it was fine yesterday morning for me too.

It could be an ad that is failing to load properly.

I have ads blocked so it's not an issue here.
Navigation and especially posting longer replies takes time (compare to other sites).

I've found it slow at times over the last few days as well. Yesterday was ok for me but Sunday was very slow.

And there is still the problem with a new post taking a long time, I mean hours, before it appears in "New Posts".
