Reinstalling Upgrade of Windows7?
Hello: I have an xp hp computer and upgraded it to windows7 and it worked great for over 3 months, but I had a bad crash and accidentally wiped out not only xp but also the windows 7 upgrade.
Now when I try to reinstall win7 I get "drivers not found"
Doesn't the upgrade have its own drivers? If not since I dont have xp anymore how can I reinstall win7? PS: please keep in mind this pc is completely empty of any operating system
I forgot to mention I can get into a safe mode, if that helps

If there is "No Operating System" then there is "No Safe Mode"????
When do you get the error "no drivers found" during the installation?
Depending on how you had Win 7 configured before, you may need to get into BIOS Setup and find where you can change (if it is set) from AHCI to IDE mode. Save and exit. If it was set this way, it should now install. As Win7 was looking for the AHCI drivers.
Please do not use "PM" for personal help, post in forum so everybody can learn

If you can get into Windows Safe Mode, the Windows must still be installed and accessible.
If you change the disk mode in the BIOS, you will have to reinstall Windows.

Ok, Thanks Guys, The only reason I can get into Safe Mode is, when trying to install it seems to load files for SM, but thats it, when the actual partition screen comes on it states there are no drivers, "IF YOU HAVE A SEPERATE MEDIA FOR DRIVERS, BUT IT IN NOW" but I only have the one disk.
Also I just looked into the bios and did not see >>AHCI to IDE mode, to change to?
Most of the websites in google only give instructions, IF have windows already installed

Post the make and model of your computer.
Now, if that is a custom/home built computer, post tha make and model of the motherboard.

Yes, just make sure you get the correct 32 or 64 bit stuff.
I always burn what ever I get from that type of website to disk. Because you never know when you will need those things again.
LiteScribe is the only thing I saw there and as I do not burn labels on cds, I never get it. The rest of the drivers are in the OS.

If Windows has drivers for a hardware item built in, they will be installed automatically when you install Windows.

Do the install and check device manager, bet nothing is missing.
Yes, when that happens it is a pleasant surprise. Had that happen when I first installed XP, Vista and a couple Win 7 installs for clients.

Thats just it, it wont install completely it states the drivers are missing, I was told (dont know though) that the windows7 upgrade does not have the drivers for your pc, you have to use the xp drivers that are already in the old pc! And that is why the upgrade is much cheaper, Is this correct?

Windows install discs, whether an upgrade or full version, have the same drivers. XP drivers won't work on Win 7. What drivers does it say are missing? When does this message appear?
