Unwanted Yahoo page: The page cannot be found
Quite often these days I type a URL up top in my Internet Explorer and it delays and then a purple text Yahoo page comes up saying the web page cannot be found. (Along with a few suggestions including the URL I orginally wanted)
I did not ask to do a Yahoo search, I wanted to go to a specific web site and the URL was spelled correctly.
Is there a way to get Yahoo out of the picture so my browser can go directly to the web site I want?

Windows version? IE version?
Give an example of a url you are typing in.
Did you check the default search engine for your browser? Do you want it to be Yahoo or not?
Do you have Yahoo toolbar installed? If so, uninstall it.
If you can attach a screenshot, that might help as well.

Thanks. I'll uninstall the Yahoo toolbar (which I never use).
I'm using Internet Explorer 8 and Windows XP with Service pack 3.
The problem is just occasional, web sites that have worked okay just once in awhile exhibit this problem. Example: Google.com .
I never designated a search engine, usually I use Google.

Many internet providers use the same technique to intercept "404" status messages and redirect to a search of some sort.
