USB or Firewire
I want to upgrade to USB 2, but i know firewire is faster. So, why is USB common then firewire in most types of hardware?
(for example, USB data sticks, internet dongles, cameras, all connect with USB instead of the faster firewire)
when is USB 3 coming out ?

Wikipedia > USB > USB 3.0

The first USB 3.0 consumer products were announced and shipped by Buffalo Technology in November 2009, while the first certified USB 3.0 consumer products were announced 5 January 2010, at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES)

USB 3.0 would require a PCIe slot.
I'd go USB2.0 if you're talking about the system in your signature.

Unless you are using a very ancient PC, then you will already have USB2. In the real world, there are only a relatively few uses where either Firewire or USB3 would have a significant benefit over USB2. Transferring large video files from a video camera, or large files from an external hard drive, would be a couple of cases in point. For many devices you wouldn't notice the slightest difference.

If you have a PCI Express slot, it's easy to add a couple of USB 3.0 ports starting at ~$33 (USD)

Laptops with USB 3.0 are all over the place. Especially Lenovo.

All of the motherboards I've been looking at for my next build have USB3 onboard. And my Sony laptop which I bought in January has it. I'd say that there are more computers with USB3 than without these days.
