Try this instead:
Please Run the ESET Online Scanner and post the ScanLog with your post for assistance.
You will need to use Internet Explorer to complete this scan. You will need to temporarily Disable your current Anti-virus program. Be sure the option to Remove found threats is Un-checked at this time (we may have it clean what it finds at a later time), and the option to Scan unwanted applications is Checked . When you have completed that scan, a scanlog ought to have been created and located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt. Please post that log for us as directed below.
NOTE: If you are unable to complete the ESET scan, please try another from the list below :

By the way, when I start downloading the Kaspersky files, I get a popup saying the application's digital signature has an error and it asks if I want to run the application, so I clicked yes and it seemed to load. Not sure if that means anything but I figured I'd mention it.

No worries. Just carry on with the directions in my last post.

OK, I ran ESET and it said it didn't find anything. When I try to run Panda it always gets to 3% and the number of files scanned stays at zero, and it won't go any further.
HouseCall also loads the files, but when I click on start, the elapsed time progresses but it stays at zero percent complete, I let it run for over an hour.
F-Secure does almost the same, it downloads the files and then starts the scan but never actually scans anything, the number of files scanned stays at zero.
Sorry to be a pain, but I'm at a loss. Any other suggestions or thoughts on what to do?
Thanks

Please read carefully and follow these steps.
Download TDSSKiller and save it to your Desktop. Extract its contents to your desktop. Once extracted, open the TDSSKiller folder and doubleclick on TDSSKiller.exe to run the application, then on Start Scan.
If an infected file is detected, the default action will be Cure , click on Continue.
If a suspicious file is detected, the default action will be Skip , click on Continue.
It may ask you to reboot the computer to complete the process. Click on Reboot Now .
If no reboot is require, click on Report . A log file should appear. Please copy and paste the contents of that file here. If a reboot is required, the report can also be found in your root directory, (usually C:\ folder) in the form of "TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt ". Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.
============
Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from >>here << and save it to your desktop.
Double click on RSIT.exe to launch program. Click Continue at the disclaimer screen. Your firewall may alert you that RSIT is requesting Internet access. Please allow it. Once it has finished, two logs will open: log.txt <-- this will be maximized and info.txt <-- this will be minimized .

Thanks, The reports total about 80,000 characters so I'll have to post in several responses. TDSSKiller didn't find anything, here's the log from the report button:

Logs look ok.
Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and click Scan to run express scan. Click OK in pop-up window to allow scan. This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the Yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan. Once the short scan has finished, select Complete scan . Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start. Click Yes to all if it asks if you want to cure/move the file. When the scan has finished, in the menu, click File and choose Save report list Save the report to your desktop . The report will be called DrWeb.csv Close Dr.Web Cureit. Important! Reboot your computer because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.Copy and paste that log in the next reply. You can use Notepad to open the DrWeb.cvs report.
NOTE . During the scan, pop-up window will open asking for full version purchase. Simply close the window by clicking on X in upper right corner.

I'm afraid it's more of the same, I tried to run the scan and it starts and then freezes, and I'm not able to close it down without forcing a shutdown of the computer. I get a message when I start it that it can run in some sort of isolated mode where it shuts out other programs, or to press cancel to not run in that mode, and I tried it several times both ways with the same result. I just get the little turning circle for a cursor showing its thinking, but it never does anything, much like the issues I'm having with the other scan software.

If you open Task Manager, can you see any single process that is using all the cpu cycles? If so, let me know what it is please.
Are you able to scan in safe mode?
Do you have any restore points you can go back to?

No, the biggest user is at about 3%. I'm not able to scan in safe mode either, when I try to riun Spybot it doesn't even open. Superantispyware does open, but when I click on the scan button it doesn't do anything and then it's locked up. I can't close it, even through task manager. Malwarebytes also starts and the scan starts but it freezes up just a few seconds in and I also can't close that down.
I'm not sure about restore points, where would I find out? I don't know if she ever backs up her computer, but I doubt it.
I've noticed that when I hit alt-tab to toggle between applications there's an icon in the list that I don't recognize and it doesn't list the name when I move to it like the other applications do. I also can't toggle to it. I've attached a picture of the icon.
