[RESOLVED] Bamboo Fun tablet settings with Windows7
I am not sure where to post. If it is the wrong place, do not hesitate to move it to the correct location.
I had a computer with Windows XP and i had a Bamboo Fun pen tablet installed. All working fine. Now, i transfered my tablet to my new computer running Windows7. I had to find a newer driver. No problem there. However, maybe it is due to the newer OS, but i have additional features on my tablet:
1- i have those ripple around the cursor on each click
2- i have the handwriting window tab all the time on the edge of my screen
3- i have a little icon (either for handwriting or on screen keyboard) that appears close to the cursor every time i hover the pen over a writing/typing document or box (txt, msn, etc.)
I would like to get rid (or simply disable) of them all as they are more annoying than useful for my type of useage. I checked all the possible windows in the Control Panel, and i cannot see anything to address that. Could you direct me to the right information?

You should be able to disable all those by going to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services, and then setting "Tablet PC Input Service" to Manual.

Switch to Classic View, and you should see it. I don't know where thy hide it in that stupid Category View. Or alternatively, you can get to the same place by firing up Task manager, going to the Services tab, and clicking "Services".

I found the Administrative tools and all, but nothing refers to the click thingie. I managed to remove the other "annoyances" like the handwriting window and such, but now, it is ONLY the little ripple effect on click that i want to get rid of.
I might try to google it, but i dont know what it is "officially" called!

I called Wacom directly, thinking it had something to do with the tablet setting itself. The tech guy explained that it was a feature of Windows7: ANY tablet would have that ripple effect on clicks. He said there was a little utility that could disable this feature and he emailed it to me, with the instructions (i am probably not the first one to ask). However, when i try to double-click on that file on my desktop (as instructed) , a window pops up with
Your internet Security settings prevented one or more files from being opened.
The file is called ripplegone.reg (i know, it is a reg file). He suggested to try in Safe Mode, but i get the exact same message. Since he is not a Windows7 specialist, but just a Wacom specialist, he could not tell me which setting needed to be changed, or where.
Would anyone know?

Never mind. I had the bright idea of unplugging and replugging the tablet and it works now.
This gave me a hot flash!
And btw, the ripples are gone!!! woohoo!!

I have a Wacom Bamboo tablet too, and I don't have any such effects on my Win 7 Then I always download the latest driver from a hardware maker's website an just install that, I avoid any of the extra software that's on the CD that comes with anything, unless it's something that I really want. Learned that the hard way.
I'm glad you got it sorted out anyway
Nick.
