IE 8
Hi
Can anyone tell me if there is anyway of installing IE8 which doesn't
wipe out all my desktop shortcuts, and cookies etc.
I downloaded and installed from MS updates, and lost just about everything.
I had to restore to previous day.
Thanks JohnW

It shouldn't wipe out either...So I can't think of anything that would help except to make a copy of the desktop icons and place em a folder somewhere.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Last week I decided to reinstall my FFox browser afresh as I was not happy with its existing installation. So this is what I did.
I downloaded IE8 from the Microsoft site and in it I used the "Import" function. The IE8 imported all FFox Favourites from my existing FFOx browser.
Then I proceded to uninstal FFOx. The FFOx uninstal dialogue (in a tick box) asked me if I wanted to remove all my cookies and Bookmarked favourites as well for a complete clean uninstallation. I opted for that.
Then I reinstalled FFox from Mozilla.com.
FFox automatically imported my Bookmarks from the new IE8 and I am only accepting Cookies on FFox as I visit the sites I want to go to.
Both the IE8 and FFox have this import facility for Bookmarked Favourites but I do not know about cookies as I did not opt for that kind of uninstal.
