Resolved [RESOLVED] Another annoying pop up in Vista

My Acer 5520 with ' Acer empowering technology ' running Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack2 brings up a nasty popup on startup.

The message is that ' Delivery Manager has stopped working and that Windows will close the program and seek a solution ! Nothing happens even after a wait and my eventually closing the popup.

I went on the web to find what this was and only found a commercial site with lots of pages and a request to register. To my knowledge I have never requested anything to do with it in the first place.

What is Delivery manager? Is it to do with Acer ? How did this get into my machine and how do I rid myself of it ?

    All help will be appreciated.

Do you mean Kontiki Delivery Manager? Just go into Control Panel and uninstall it.

    PS Hello again Midknite

I went to add or remove programs and don't see Kontiki there.

What else do you think could be causing my problem ? Could it be in the Acer part of the setup ?

Delivery Manager is a bit vague. Doesn't it have a more specific name? I've seen Kontiki before, but it's hard to tell if that's what you have or not. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kontiki

Did you check Event Viewer for errors? It might tell you the actual .exe name.

Did you look at the startup programs in MSConfig?

Did you scan your system for malware?

It is part of Kontiki, a peer-to-peer file-sharing service used by TV companies such as the BBC, Sky and Channel 4 to distribute video.
If you use any of the above, you may need it.
In case, you need to get rid of it, or reinstall it, it's not that straight forward.
    You need to...

Go Start>Control Panel>Add\Remove ("Programs and Features" in Vista), and uninstall Sky Anytime (if present).
Download, and run KClean.exe: http://static.sky.com/kclean/KClean.exe to remove Kontiki from your computer.
NOTE: Kontiki is know resource hog.

Thanks Midknyte and Broni ( Again )

Having read your posts I found ' KHost.exe-all '......via msconfig.
It shows ' Not classified ' and location as ' HKCU\software\microsoft windows '

    In ' Services ' it shows ' Kservice ( Stopped )

Having read your mails I went to ' Update Kontiki ' clicked on update and got the message ' Already updated 'On restart the popup appeared again.

I have since played BBC.co.uk and ITV.com both satisfactorily. so bearing in mind Broni's comment regarding resource consumption I propose to uninstall Kontiki.

    Thanks again

    John.
