Welcome to VirtualDr dennisjquad
Was able to locate a bunch of info but no UTILITY diskette. You might try calling Radio Shack and give then the following part number, (but I have my doubts that they still carry something so old, [lack of demand]).
http://support.radioshack.com/suppor...oc21/21982.htm
Code:
250-4072 TANDY 3000 NL Faxback Doc. # 21982
To order parts call 1-800-843-7422 or visit your local RadioShack store.
Reference # Cat.No. Description NP Part #
------------------------------------------------------------------------
UTILITY DISK ONLY MU2504072

3000 NL
(250-4072) Setup Faxback Doc. # 1424
NOTE: This unit requires a seperate utility disk. DO NO USE DOS SETUP.
NOTE: If the BIOS ROM version is 01.04.00, use Utilities Disk Version
02.01.00.
If the BIOS ROM version is 01.04.02 or greater, use Utilities Disk
version 02.01.01
NOTE: If these combination is not used, the Tandy 3000 NL will appear to
work while still in the setup utilities. Once the unit has been
rebooted, the system will appear to be dead. At this point, the
unit will need to go to service for possible replacement of the
CMOS chip.

Note that this machine is really old ... as in w-a-y back in the good old MS-DOS 2.xx (1980's) days. It's a 10MHz 80286, Max. 8MB of RAM*, (with memory expansion board AX2504027), and came with a 3.5" floppy drive, (no hard drive or video card). System requirements for Windows 3.1 enhanced mode are:- Intel 80386 (or higher) processor
- 2 MB or more of memory (640K conventional and 1024K extended)
- 8 MB of of free disk space (10.5 MB is recommended)

Nope, won't work.
Frpm the link I posted above: RadioShackCatalogs.com > 1986 > The Powerful New Tandy 3000
... The Tandy 3000 features ... a high-capacity 5-1/4" slim-line (half-height) floppy disk drive. For compatibility, this drive can read 1.2-megabyte and 360K formats for use with IBM PC diskettes.
...
MS-DOS (3.1)/BASIC...

Again: The Tandy 3000 (is so old it) will not recognize your 3-1/2 diskette drive. You need a 5-1/4" diskette drive capable of reading/writing 360K and 1.2M floppy diskettes.

I believe your right in some respect. But the Tandy 3000 NL came with a 3.5 floppy drive yhe sony MP-F17W-70D I damaged the original drive I replaced it with Sony MP-F17W-72 it hooks up correctly but may not be quite as old or whatever But I believe your analysis.
