    No VPN Checkbox

I restored an older version of a registry backup made with regedit.
Since then I have been getting the problem described in this Microsoft link.
The file named in my message is ndiswan.vxd.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/166832

The microsoft document in the link advises to click on the VPN Networking check box only.

Problem: I dont have a VPN checkbox.
    What can I do?

How do you connect to the Internet? Dial up or broadband?

If dialup, go to Control Panel, add remove programs, windows setup, communications and uncheck dial up networking. Do not reboot if prompted!

Then go to control panel - network and remove everything.
Reboot and let it rebuild it all. The minimum that should be there depends on the system, how you connect to the Internet and if you have a network.

Absolute minimums with broadband are the clent for Microsoft Networks, the network adapter and TCP/IP bound to the adapter.

If you use dial up you need to recheck the communications box and reestablish your connectoid to your IP

    Hope that helps

I'm not connected on a LAN. I removed the network card.
I use to use a Dial-Up modem but haven't used it in a while.
I do not have internet access, I cancelled my account.
I did what you said about unchecking the Dial-Up Networking communications box but then I rebooted before opening the network icon in Control panel.
Thanks, I'll try it again without rebooting immediately etc.
Do you know if I need to establish a VPN connectoid first?
I do not have a VPN connectoid or any other one established now.
