What works? g3 233 160mg ppc
I got an old g3 233mhz imac that I want to turn into a music creating machine for a fellow who can't afford anything (he lives in a nursing home.)
I've tried the ubtuntu 6.0 live CD and that boots fine until X loads. Screen goes blank because of incorrect screen refresh rate prams.
I am downloading the alternative install now because I read on a blog that this works.
But is this what I want?
Again
1) I want a working linux box on the g3
2) I want the machine to run audio authoring applications such as multitrack midi/wav composing/sequencing, virtual midi keyboards, morphvox, synths, drum machines etc.
Thanx

PCLinux should also work on that system. There's a link within the link for dozens of screenshots. If you've been used to Windows, this layout is pretty similar. It helps if you know your way around Linux a bit, especially Mandrake/Mandriva.
