S3 Disc For Windows 95
A few months ago Windows 95 got wiped off my Compaq 7240 by a bad disc. With your help, I managed to get it up and running again. The problem is, my CD-Rom Drive will not work for any discs that need 256-bit color. I'd like to know exactly which S3 disc I need to get to fix this.
Thank you,
prov

You need to find out which s3 video card you have. You can try Belarc advisor which should read your system and identify your card. Then you can go find and download those drivers.
Its hard to find on the net anymore but an alternative is SciTechs display Dr. 6.53. They were giving it away for free for legacy systems. It's a universal video driver and it'll identify your card and run it's video, giving much better performance than the best drivers s3 will have for you. I can email this to you if you wish. I think. Unless its too big for me to send as an attachment.
