hard drive question
I have a HP Pavillion laptop N5170 hard drive that has crapped out. Can someone tell me if I can replace it with any laptop hard drive? Maybe one of the hard drives here http://www.laptopparts.com/laptop-ha...005Y5Z29Z49YPM
Would any laptop hard drive work? Also, after replacing hard drive, when booting to cd, will my system restore cd recognize the new drive and install windows etc..?
Does anyone suggest a site to purchase the hard drive from? Thanks for any info.

Most any brand name laptop harddrive will fit a laptop computer. That is recently built ones will. The only time a problem will arise is when the size of the original laptop harddrive is different. Like some IBM laptops, their older harddrives are a different size measured in mm rather than inches. According to HP this is the size of the harddrive you can use and that they recommend: 9.5 mm, 2.5 inch (standard laptop harddrive size) HDD PCI Bus Master Enhanced IDE Supports Ultra DMA/33
