    Question DOS command question

I know this has been answered before, but I cannot get any of links to the answers to work. I am looking to create a batch file that will create a desktop shortcut for an user, to file on our server. What is the DOS command for creating shortcuts?

The only other way around it that I can see is to create the shortcuts on our server and then just use xcopy commands in the batch to copy them down.

Was just wondering if there was a way in which it could be accomplished without the need to create the shortcuts on the server.

    Many Thanks
    Cheers

See the info on this page here. If the workstations in question are NT based then there is a link at the bottom of the page showing how to do it on tehm.

I'm sorry, but my knowledge of DOS is not as in depth as this. I can't make out where I specify the source file and the target location. Sorry for my ignorance.

I read the link, and vote for the "create the shortcut on my computer, and COPY it to the desktop of the computer that needs it" method.
