I hadn't located this thread and I sent Steve an email about the slow opening of the main page. He directed me here and I am still having the problem as some others are also. The header for the main page loads and than it takes forever for the completion. I am using DSL and I do not have a problem with any other sites. I am just writing this so that you will know that others are experiencing the same thing. I have all the time in the world being retired and old and I really enjoy this site.

Using the Opera browser the main page takes exactly 18 seconds to open everytime. The ad header opens in a second or two and the page stops loading for the remaining 18 seconds. If I didn't know better I'd say the main page is on a timer.

Well it's not taking near that long for me, but there is a definite period after the click where nothing appears to be happening. Then the page loads in a second, but it's 5 or 6 seconds after the click. I'm having it looked into.

They've made some adjustments. Any difference?

JPnyc--It took me several minutes to log on to
    http://discussions.virtualdr.com/
today. I just waited since I had nothing better to do and I could see the Status bar indicated steady progress.
Once here, I experience the same "somewhat" slowness going from page to page.
EDIT--Exited VirtualDr, went elsewhere and came back about 10 minutes later. No delay in entering the site this time, but individual pages are still slow to load.

Still a problem with trying to get back to the main page (25 sec now as opposed to 20 sec before).

All other times about the same as before..........

No difference for me. Takes about 10 seconds to load a page from the link in email notifications. 5 second wait when clicking a link here.

    ditto, ditto, Ditto, DITTO

For what it's worth, it's worse now than ever before for me. If I didn't have a fat DSL pipe, I'd not use it at all for now. VDr is now completely useless from my home on a dial-up connection, and it's irritating at best even on a DSL line.

Hey System Programmer... if you're going to FORCE me to click the STUPID link to expand the forum to full width, how about at LEAST sending a cookie to remember this for the duration of my freaking session???

    Various Windows and Linux platforms...

We're working on it, everybody. Sometimes issues aren't caused by obvious things. Sometimes they take awhile to track down.
