I found it!! You found it! "Windows Sonic for Headphones" was turned off. As soon as I switched that I tested and had sound in the headphones. I have not yet tested either the built in speakers...

I suspect you're right in it's being a hardware problem. Inserting the headphone jack effectively kills the built in speakers, but does not produce sound in the headphones.
A question on using...

The headphones are not listed separately. I followed instructions for the "speakers" only to find that the "roll back driver" box was grayed out. My only option along that line would be to try to...

Is there an independent driver for the headphones? The built-in speakers work well, but with a lesser quality sound.
The failure happened a month after the OS upgrade. The headphones and...

I'm dealing here with my older Dell Inspiron 3520. A month ago I upgraded the OS from Windows 8.1 to 10. That was easier than I thought it would be. There were no hitches, no problems along the...

Yes, I received the same notification a couple days ago. It's always a hassle to change a significant and necessary application in my system, but I guess it must be done.
This leads, of course,...

The last two or three times I've updated Malwarebytes I've almost wished I hadn't. It automatically (as far as I can tell and remember) enrolls me in a limited time free trial of the fully paid...

Thank you for sharing the photos. They're very good. Photolady/Martha, helped me several times, I believe. She was always willing to help.

It's time to close this one out. I've given the system a fair while to show problems, and it has not. I can find no indication of SAntivirus in my files.
If a problem presents itself I'll return...

Weird. Bitdefender finally decided to admit that it was done, and claimed it took only 6+ hours, not the 19 while the little thingie was spinning. Task manager now tells me I have only two programs...

I thought I had Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition installed a couple weeks ago, but apparently not. I corrected that last night, installed it properly. Once it was up and running I started a scan,...

Malwarebytes is installed, up and running on a temporary full program status. When I installed bitdefender free I was notified that there might be a conflict between it and Malwarebytes. It said...

I've opened a thread on the Malwarebytes forum, as SpywareDr suggested. I think the current plan is to temporarily remove Bitdefender while I download and work with the Malwarebytes fixit program. ...

Rebooting did not help. This go-around I was able to copy what Bitdefender said. "Item was deleted: Trojan.GenericKD.42903509. Path:C:\Users\KWB\AppDate\Local\Temp\7zS233A.tmp\FRST.exe.download"...

That did not work. The same thing happened. Just prior to the unable popup there was a very quick popup, telling me, I think, that it was downloading FRST.exe.
In looking through my previously...

I've done as you suggested, Spyware. When I ran the support tool it got to the second green progress bar and quit, with the popup "We were unable to launch successfully. Please try again." A...

I have uninstalled Malwarebytes using the uninstall feature within the program itself.
How do I tell whether that worked as it should? I still find program parts, what appears to be pretty much...

I'm running Bitdefender, fairly recently installed. Previously I had Avast. I don't know what version of MBAM I have because it won't start.
Yes, I googled this, and found a rather daunting list...

JLS, I too got rid of AVAST, for the same reason, and installed BitDefender on my desktop system running Windows 7. I had a similar problem, having to click on a link only to have my computer...

One warning is enough. Thanks. AVAST has to go. It's a matter of trust.
I have a process question, though. I've looked and am unable to find an uninstall portion of the program. Did I miss...
