I assume you are referring to a RAID array of disks. If that is correct, what drives are you using, and what RAID Controller (or motherboard, if it is an onboard controller) are you using?

I would not throw the card away until I had determined if it is bad. To do that, remove the card and attach the drive to a different SATA to USB converter, and then see if it works.

You would have had to convert the disk from MBR to GPT to use the additional 2GB. That is what Diskpart would have done for you if you got one 4GB partition.
