The icons at the top of my android phone have turned blak as shown on the attached. I have no idea what has caused this nor how to revert to white.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi jdc200,
A suggested solution is the following:
Long press on home screen
Select settings
And uncheck the personalized setting option
Where do I find "personalized setting option" under settings? I see no such option on my phone!
What version of Android do you have?

Android 7.0
I assume that the appearance does not change if you shut down the phone and re-boot it.
Yes definitely no change and more than once.
I don't have Nova Launcher. It appears that the black screen isn't anything sinister and it doesn't interfere with any applications on my phone. Maybe it came with an update but if it did it isn't a problem.
Thanks for all your help, jdc2000.
It appears from what I have seen that the color is designed to change based on the background color on the screen. If the background is black or dark, the icons would be white. If the background is white or light, the icons would be black. There may not be a way you can change it with Android 7.
Good call. I checked this on my android 7 and that is exactly what is happening.
Thanks so much for this,
Brian
