Can't get Skype to work on my Android tablet

I've downloaded and installed Skype for Android onto my Tesco Hudl tablet but when I try to open it, it just gives me the message "Skype is not working". I've uninstalled and reinstalled it several times using different options but when I try to open it I always get this same message. Can anyone give me any advice on this please?

Were you installing it from the GooglePlay?

I think I tried it from both GooglePlay and the Playstore.
